How else will I be able to have my seat all the way back and hang the steering wheel out the window?

Of all the companies to get that backwards! I'm sorry Scoob, hope you can get over that one. I was riding in a friends Jetta with the backwards manumatic like the one in the picture and explained a true sequential to him with this little truck:
"So if you're exited, or want more of something you'll pull it towards you (talking about pulling "down" or towards one's body to upshift), while if you want less of something (talking about pushing up, or away from one's body to downshift), you push it away. Same for gears. If you want more, pull towards you, if you want less push away."

Hmmm I always just think momentum. If your hand is on the shifter and you relax it while slamming on the brakes, it'll push the shifter towards the front of the car. Accelerate and it'll pull the shifter towards you. Makes sense.

That's a good one too, both make the backwards layout look dumb. There's always the real answer though:

My life when a friend asks to borrow my car (which is common at school):
Me: "You can borrow my car if you need, just a heads up, it's a stick."
Guy 2: "Okay, cool."
Me: "You know how to drive stick?"
Guy 2: "Well, no, not really. But I have the manual mode in my car at home which is like the same thing..."

I couldn't agree with you more.

Sequentials gear selection, since the beginning of time, have been forward (-) and back (+). Why? Who the hell knows. But they have. Just like the volume knob has been clockwise (+) and counterclockwise (-). Why? I don't know, but somehow we all agreed that that's the way it was. Light switches? Up is on? Down is off? Why? Who cares. That's the way it is.

Why in the hell are some manufactures changing this around I have no idea. I think it's the dumbest thing I have ever seen. How can a manufacturer of a performance vehicle be taken seriously if they can't even replicate the actions of the race car it's attempting to mimic?

WHO STARTED THIS???!?!?!? TELL ME!!! WHO STARTED THIS!!!!?????

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's probably a DCT and therefore will have paddles. And if you got paddles, you are not going to be using the gear lever.

"That would truly be an abomination."

Yes.. Why? Because it's different than what already existed and there no need to reinvent something that makes sense.

I feel the same way about Apple's choice to reverse page scrolling when they released 10.7 Lion. For 30 years, we have been scrolling down to scroll down the page, but now Apple wants us to treat the desktop OS like a touch screen device.

However, you are able to reverse it in settings. I wonder how many people reverse the shifting on cars that are configured backwards. It's just wires, right?

LOL, I found a few DIYs on line.

What's going to happen:

2015: "Wow this car is selling like crazy with the new automatic!"

2016: "Man, only about 5% of buyers are going for the manual, it costs so much to manufacture!"

2017: "We are dropping the manual transmission from the STI."

nobody asks to borrow my car. They know they will get a resounding

Kinja'd!!!

That's not to say I won't let anyone drive my car. But the ones who do ask aren't the ones I would offer my keys to. I have offered to a couple people and only one has accepted the invitation to drive: my girlfriend.

My car's kind of a piece of shit, so I don't get too worked up about it. I like hearing people's impressions about it since it's different than newer cars
